Installation and first launch
Grab the installer, point it at your own CDs, wait — what happens during that and where the files end up.
Last updated: 12 August 2026
What you need
- The two original CDs of Akte Europa — in the drive or as folders on disk (an existing installation works too).
- Windows. Builds for other systems are not set up yet.
Without the discs the game will not run. The program ships no game content: the
bundled .pck is about 200 KB and carries nothing from 1997.
Installing
Download the installer from the releases page and run it. On first launch the program asks for the discs or an installation folder and derives the content from them. This takes a few minutes.
The derived files go into your user profile. The program directory stays untouched, so reinstalling the game does not throw the derived data away.
What the first launch derives
| Maps | 44, baked up to 10160 × 5285 pixels |
| Game states | 44 — units, buildings, objectives, deposits, rail lines |
| Unit pictures | 4307, composed out of ROBO.CWR |
| Tables | 12, from the map files and GAME.EXE |
| Interface | original typeface, side panel, effects, mission briefings |
Importing without the interface
If you would rather trigger the import without a window — to check or repeat it — you can go through Godot directly:
godot --path . --headless -- --import-cd # discs in the drive
godot --path . --headless -- --import=<folder> # or from an installation
When something goes wrong
The import is where problems surface: files missing from the disc, a drive that is not passed through, an incompletely copied installation. Report such cases in the repository — it helps to name the exact path you pointed at and what the program reported.
Something missing or wrong? Additions are explicitly welcome — just get in touch. info@openreborn.com
